Recall System
The THS Recall System
Traditional GP recall systems are prone to user error (recalls may not be setup correctly or not reset when tests are done). Or they are done on set dates eg: month of birth. This leads to recall systems recalling people too many times in some instances (where tests have already been done) and conversely not following patients with uncontrolled disease up frequently enough leading to poor performance and loss of income.
Unique Metrics
THS recalls are based on a patient’s unique metrics – their most recent test results (date and value) and their comorbidities that determine frequency of follow up. This system seeks to reduce the number of duplicate attendances whilst optimising the frequency of recall for uncontrolled disease in line with national guidance.
Easy to Use
Whilst the software underlying the recall system is complex it is easy to use for admin teams. Your admin team will be provided with reports telling them which patients need a recall for which things (bloods /BP /ACR /etc) and how best to contact them. We preferentially use bulk SMS /Email as it is quick and cost effective with good response rates.
When patients come in for tests this works alongside the “tests due” pop-up to ensure they get the right blood tests done.

Recall Streams
There is a routine recall stream for standard work where patients may be prompted to book a test every 4-6 week and a high priority recall stream where people are at particular risk and need urgent follow up or where they are very overdue testing – practices may want to prompt these patients once or twice a week. Recalls for a single practice 30K patient PCN can be managed in 2 hours per week. If referring patients to external phlebotomy services and tests require adding to ICE this can take longer but this additional admin work reduces demand on phlebotomy services at the practice.
Recall performance can be monitored using the dashboard.
